Washingtonians love their wines but did you know Washington State is the 2nd largest premium wine producer in the United States? Our over 900 wineries produce 17.5 million cases of wine a year. That’s over 210 million bottles! Of the 55,000 acres planted in wine grapes, 64% are red wine with the Cabernet Sauvignon being the highest and 36 % white with Riesling being the highest. 2016 was a record harvest of 270,000 tons. Wow! That’s a lot of great wine. Time to celebrate Washington’s legacy of winemaking with a glass of wine. Cheers!
