What wine do I pair with Easter dinner?

There are a few tried and true Easter meals and either ham or lamb are the go to meat courses. Lamb is hearty and strong in flavor and supports tannic full-bodied red wines. A Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect here and will balance out the lamb’s robust essence. The Easter ham is usually mild, sweet and salty and would match best with a softer red wine like a Pinot Noir or even better, an off-dry Riesling with a bit of sweetness and some apple and citrus flavors to complement the ham. Lastly as you are raiding the Easter baskets, you can still pair your favorite Easter candy with wine. Our choices would be a Merlot with some cocoa flavors to go with the chocolate bunny. Jelly beans demand a sweeter pairing like a Rose or a Pinot Gris, and for those Peeps, definitely go with something sparkly like champagne or sparkling wine.
