Petit Verdot, did you know we are planting some?
Typically a famous Bordeaux varietal, this red wine grape has small, thick-skinned berries that are valued for their depth of color. Traditionally the variety has played a small role in the classic blends of Bordeaux, but Petit Verdot wines are now appearing in many regions of southern Europe, the Americas and Australia.
Petit Verdot offers up aromas of mostly black fruit flavors ranging from plum, blackberry and blueberry to slightly lighter black cherry.
